The Toledo Lounge

Established 1994

The Toledo Lounge is an Adams Morgan institution. Mary and Stephanie Abbajay, sisters and refugees from the Washington political scene of the early 1990s, opened the Lounge in July 1994. It was a hit from day one and has been going strong ever since.

Politicians, pundits, politicos, journalists, Hill staffers, interns, artists, musicians, students, tourists and all manner of regular Joes have made the Lounge their own. From the business cards taped to the doors to the pictures of customers wearing their beloved Lounge t-shirts in faraway lands, the Lounge is a beloved establishment. It is as authentic, unpretentious and welcoming as any neighborhood bar could be. Plus the food absolutely rocks.

The Toledo Lounge has been featured on CNN, ABC and NBC News and was the location for a Rolling Stone-produced documentary on the single life. The Lounge has appeared on countless top ten lists and was recently again named one of DC’s best bars in both Washingtonian magazine and the Washington Post.

It is the watering hole and dining spot of choice for all cool kids, no matter their age, occupation or background. Everyone is welcome at the Toledo Lounge.
